After 20yrs of community development, education and health experience, Owner and Director Lyn Baird (M.SocSc, R.N., Dip CCFT, Cert IV Wk, Pl, Tr & Ass. ACA Clinical) saw a need to help those who were hurting in the community. In 2003 Life Bridge started with one room and one school program (HIP) in conjunction with North Coast Community Health in schools in 2003. Life Bridge then released the pilot program of the EMMA program in 2005 and in May 2007 the completed EMMA program started. In 2009 Life Bridge released both the MAX and ALF programs. Life Bridge continues to be on the cutting edge of community desired programs and is constantly developing new training and community programs.
Counselling and Psychology Services The Counselling and Psychology service currently has three psychologist and three counsellors as well as one mental health worker. They are all contractors however a commitment is made to participate in mentoring/ supervision with the Director to assure quality of service. All Counsellors and Psychologists are current members of their appropriate professional bodies. With the introduction of the Medicare rebate for Psychologists, Life Bridge can also offer therapy which is bulkbilled for those clients under a mental health care plan. Community Programs Life Bridge develops and runs such community programs as EMMA (Educating Mothers and Mentoring Adolescence), HIP (Hope, Identity and Purpose), ALF (Adventurous Legal Fun) and MAX (Mentoring Adolescent Males). Our community programs currently has two part time staff members as case workers that work part time as well as contract facilitators when required. Support and Training The Director of Life Bridge, Lyn Baird, is committed to the mentoring, support and training of those within the industry as well as clients. Life Bridge is continually offering affordable professional training for those already in the field of counselling or social services. Along with this, Life Bridge also offers Diploma and Certificate courses for those interested in entering this field. Life Bridge also runs Support Groups for those who need that form of support. Business Services and Room Hire Life Bridge currently has Conquest Accounting Sunshine Coast, Nambour Hospital’s Newborn and Family Drop In Service and Ante Natal Clinic, Pyjama Foundation and Andersen’s Counselling Service utilising this service. Admin and Customer Services Life Bridge has just completed a services evaluation with our clients and what the clients stated they valued about Life Bridge was the high standard of customer service and holistic services. They commented on how, from the time you enter the building, the client felt cared about. Our clients are important to us and we’re happy to know that we are reflecting our value of them through our admin and customer services.
Director Lyn Baird also offers professional supervision for both counselling and small business management and is in demand as a teacher and speaker on current social issues. She also writes and develops training packages for various RTO’s around the State. |
